Access is the beginning of the patient journey
For an oncology manufacturer, authorizing a pharmacy is a decision about how patients will reach a prescribed therapy and what support will surround them afterward. Product access matters. So do coverage requirements, affordability, medication guidance, delivery coordination, and communication with the treating team.
SortPak’s model brings those responsibilities together around one principle: expanding the dispensing pathway should preserve the patient’s connection to the oncology practice.
We work alongside Medically Integrated Pharmacy (MIP) teams to support eligible patients when an additional dispensing partner is needed. Our oncology services include oral therapies and supported infusion and injection pathways, with access confirmed for each product and referral.
When the MIP cannot dispense, the care relationship should continue
A MIP may not have distribution access to the prescribed medication. In other cases, it may have product access but be unable to dispense for a particular patient because of payer restrictions, network requirements, or reimbursement challenges.
Manufacturer authorization can enable SortPak to evaluate an additional pathway for eligible referrals. It does not replace the need to confirm coverage, clinical eligibility, applicable program requirements, and dispensing authorization.
The treating oncology team continues to direct therapy. SortPak coordinates the medication journey with the referring practice, helping the MIP remain involved as the prescription moves forward.
A mission and vision built around the MIP
Our mission is to expand access to oncology therapies through partnerships that support the MIP model and preserve the patient’s connection to the treating team.
Our vision is a connected oncology ecosystem where access barriers can be addressed while the oncology center retains treatment oversight.
For manufacturers, that means working with an access partner whose patient-support model includes the referring practice from the start. The goal is a coordinated next step for the patient and a continued connection to the people responsible for their care.
National relationships, individual access pathways
SortPak’s relationships with health plans, MSOs, and IPAs support coordination across Medicaid, commercial, and Medicare populations. Each patient’s pathway is reviewed against their coverage, prescribed therapy, and access requirements.
Our team helps clarify state- and plan-specific requirements, network restrictions, prior authorization needs, and available assistance pathways. National dispensing capabilities support eligible patients across our licensed service footprint, with service availability confirmed for each referral.
Assistance is evaluated under the applicable program rules. An option available to one patient may not be available to another, so eligibility review is part of the process.
What happens after product authorization
Once an eligible referral reaches SortPak, our team works with the patient and oncology office on the access and dispensing requirements. Support extends beyond the first fill.
- Prior authorization: Coordinate required information with the oncology office, track progress, and communicate the next step.
- Copayment assistance: Review available programs and help eligible patients navigate enrollment and program requirements.
- Patient assistance programs: Evaluate available pathways and support the application process, subject to eligibility.
- Pharmacist-led support: Provide medication review, interaction screening, education, and communication with the prescribing team.
- Delivery coordination: Confirm arrangements and keep the patient and oncology office informed about order progress.
- Ongoing follow-through: Coordinate refill needs, respond to medication questions, and maintain communication with the referring MIP.
The patient’s needs, the prescribed therapy, and the treating clinician’s plan guide the coordination.
SortPak Live keeps the next step visible
A referral should be followed by communication. SortPak Live supports that connection through shared case information and direct messaging with the SortPak team.
Authorized practice staff can follow prior authorization status, case notes, order progress, and delivery information for their referred patients. Manufacturer partners can define authorized program visibility and reporting around access and dispensing milestones, therapy-specific REMS checkpoints, and agreed follow-up activity.

Practice access is scoped to its patients and authorized team. Manufacturer visibility depends on program agreements, patient permissions, and applicable privacy requirements.
Experience with limited distribution and REMS therapies
SortPak has successfully supported multiple limited-distribution medication launches, including therapies with REMS requirements. Our independent oncology focus and well over 20 years of team expertise support a practical commitment to patients and referring practices.
Our quality credentials include URAC Specialty Pharmacy and Mail Service Pharmacy accreditation, ACHC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation, and NABP Pharmacy Accreditation. Current credentials and service-footprint information are available for manufacturer review.
Product-specific authorization, clinical requirements, payer eligibility, and applicable program requirements remain part of every access decision.
Define the pathway for your therapy
A manufacturer partnership starts with the access gap: which eligible patients need an additional pathway, where MIPs encounter dispensing barriers, and what support the therapy requires.
From there, SortPak works with the manufacturer to define patient services, program requirements, reporting, and the referral workflow, with the MIP connection built in.
